Christmas morning part four

After a nap and a change of venue to a second set of grandparents, it was more presents. I was a little tired at this point. I did find Mom's new PJ's interesting. If she cannot wear them, they fit me.

Christmas morning part three

I invited Aunt Molly to hang out with me in my new pad. She left me to the whims of a Blue Footed Boobie (everyone laughs when they say that-don't know why), from my other godfather, John, but I was able to fend it off.

Christmas morning part two

After a little practice, I was on to the main event. I removed the paper with ease revealing a sand ladybug. This will be a definite upgrade from the 1 foot square box I'm currently trying to play in.

Christmas morning part one

The big day finally arrived. I have been hearing about Christmas, Santa and Baby Jesus for weeks now. I started with the stocking. Play-doh, always good. I practiced opening a few presents. I even opened Dad's. He was being a bit slow about this whole thing.

Reconnecting with my Godfather

I haven't seen Uncle Kenny much since he joined the family-the Navy's doing. After a long day of travel, he and Aunt Molly made it home for Christmas. We bonded over building blocks.

Christmas Eve

Time to leave out the cookies for Santa. I think I should sample one just to be on the safe side. (narrators note: no cookies were actually eaten by a 23 month old. Please do not call child services)

Celebrating Mom's birthday

Mom's birthday is on December 23rd so it plays second fiddle to Christmas. In the past it usually involved being on the road to Texas. This year, we took a little time out to celebrate at home. I'm doing my best to help Mom blow out the candle.

Helping Mommy make bread

Along with "What's that?" I also like to see what's going on and to help when I can. Some of you may have noticed that this operation is on the floor. Don't worry, this loaf went to someone else. Just doing my part for the family.

Practicing being a big sister

Mom and Dad keep talking about the baby that will be coming home in a few months. I thought I'd practice my diaper changing and potty training skills.
MMF

What's that Mommy?

Lately, my favorite question is "What that?" We had a little dusting of snow that was great fun. I wanted to Dad to build a snowman, but he gave me some line about not being enough snow.

Hanging Christmas lights

Last year I wasn't much help with decorating the house for the holidays. This year is a different story. I took care of the low branches, while Dad worked up top. Mom took a really cool photo of me in action.

Play date with Cora

My friend Cora came for a visit. We went to the Children's Museum and had a blast. We really appreciate her mommy driving down.

Web technology

For Dad's birthday, he purchased a webcam so I can talk to my peeps around the world. Of course, the only people I know that has a webcam is Aunt Molly and Uncle Kenny. After a few technical difficulties we were live. Now I can see Aunt Molly make silly faces at me.

Thanksgiving weekend roadtrip

Over the long holiday weekend, I saw all my grandparents. I practiced bike safety and Grandmother and Doc's. I went to the zoo at Mill Mountain in Roanoke before visiting Granddaddy and J-Ma. While Mom and Dad went to the annual school rivalry game (aka VT win again), I stayed with Nonna and Grandpa.

The way weekends should be.

Our weekends are usually pretty hectic - errands or travel or house guests. This is a rare Saturday morning where we went at our own pace. Dad's reading the paper while I'm finishing off a book. Good times indeed.

Dad's 36th.

Always being helpful, I am giving Dad a few pointers in how to blow out the candles. I also helped Mom make the cake. "More chocolate," I said. "That will make him happy."
MMF

80's hair.

I look like some of the people in Dad's high school year book.

Visit from the Thomases.

The Thomas twins (and their parents) came to visit recently. Their dad ran in a local marathon, and we benefited by having them stay with us. It was kind of cold outside, so you can see the energy was starting to build up. Do you see me in the first picture? It's kind of like "where's waldo." Later we spent a little time looking at shapes in the clouds.
MMF

I voted.

On election night, I helped Mom to get dinner ready. I probably need to get a Maeve size apron.

New fashion look

My hair has become very long and the barettes are less effective at keeping my hair back out of my face. My parents just cannot quite bring themselves to get my haircut. They are worried about the curls not coming back. Mom set me up with a pig tail, which I rather enjoyed.

Halloween part 2

Yesterday was a trial run, and tonight is for real. After an inspection of the pumpkin (carving-well done Dad and candle-should illuminate nicely), I indicated to my parents that we were open for business. The kids came and Dad gave out the candy. Seems like the candy disappeared faster than the kids came. Hmmm. After it got dark, I waited at the bottom of the steps inside for a knock and the arrival of "big kids".

Halloween part 1

Every Thursday I go to music class with Mom. It isn't terribly formal. Just forty-five minutes of grooving to tunes and dancing. Last week was the photo day and dress-up day. Last year I was a penguin. Now a cat-ears and tail and I'm off. Mom added the whiskers when we got to class. Katie and Davis are my classroom buddies. We hung out at the pool some this summer, too.

Ready for church.

We have been traveling a lot lately to visit friends and to attend football games. This was a home weekend and it was back to church. My super cool Aunt Molly sent me this little dress. Don't I look cute? This is a rarity. Both smiling and both with eyes open.

Neighborhood picnic.

At the annual neighborhood picnic, I met a few new friends. Of course, all the girls got it. You run around and flop down into the grass. This little boy clearly did not get it. I think I heard Dad muttering something about it won't be the first time he is confused by girls.

All better now.

Last week I had quite a boo-boo. I dislocated my right elbow. After a couple of precautionary X-rays, the doctor fixed my arm. As you can see, I'm much better now. I even tried out a sock puppet.

Go Navy!

In March, when I visited Aunt Molly and Uncle Kenny my parents picked up a Navy sweatshirt for me. I have finally grown into it and fall has settled in.

I'm a little sauce pot

I think the rhyme goes "I'm a litte teapot," but the sauce pot was all I could find.

Big news

In case you haven't heard the big news, as the t-shirt says, I will be a big sister soon. February to be exact. I'm not really sure what that means, but Mom and Dad seem to be excited. I don't know if it is a baby sister or baby brother. Stay tuned.

VT homecoming festivities

Mom and Dad took me back to Blacksburg for another game. It was homecoming weekend. We started the morning at the parade in town. Back to the house for a pregame meal. Toast anyone. The game was fun, but I only made it through the first half. Why do the schedule games during nap time? After nap, I snuggled with Dad while watching football on the really big TV in Grandaddy's Hokie Lounge.

Back in Winston-Salem

Finally in Winston-Salem. I had a playdate with Virginia who is one day younger than me, but five inches taller. Thanks Mom and Dad for the short genes.

Another new friend

Before leaving Charlotte, we visited with Josh (Dad's grad school classmate), Ginny and John. Here I thought I was so special, but in reality I am part of a post-grad baby boom.
